Copy and Paste Workflow

The copy/paste functionality in labelWise is designed for efficient bulk annotation:

Copying Annotations

  1. Select one or more annotations by clicking on them
  2. Hold Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (Mac) and click to add more annotations to your selection
  3. Press Ctrl/Cmd + C to copy the selected annotations
  4. A notification will confirm: “Se copiaron X cuadro(s)“

Pasting Annotations

  1. Navigate to any image (including the same image)
  2. Press Ctrl/Cmd + V to paste
  3. Pasted annotations appear with an 18px offset from their original position
  4. Each paste increments the offset (18px, 36px, 54px, etc.)
  5. Pasted annotations are automatically selected
The paste offset resets when you:
  • Copy new annotations
  • Switch to a different image
  • The counter is tracked per copy operation

Multi-Selection

Hold Ctrl (Windows/Linux) or Cmd (Mac) while clicking annotations to build a selection:
  • Click an unselected annotation to add it to the selection
  • Click a selected annotation to remove it from the selection
  • The most recently selected annotation becomes the “primary” selection
  • Multi-selected annotations can be copied together with Ctrl/Cmd + C
You can select annotations across the canvas view or by clicking rows in the CSV view while holding Ctrl/Cmd.

Limitations

Keyboard shortcuts are disabled when you’re typing in:
  • Label input fields
  • Bulk label textarea
  • CSV cell editors
  • Any other text input or textarea element

Tips for Efficient Use

  1. Duplicate similar objects: Copy an annotation, paste multiple times, then adjust positions
  2. Template workflow: Create perfect annotations on one image, copy them, paste across similar images
  3. Batch labeling: Select multiple annotations, ensure they’re all correct, then move to the next image
  4. Quick selection: Use Ctrl/Cmd + Click in CSV view to quickly select multiple annotations from the data table
